The book is narrated by Zane Cobriana, Diente and alastair to the Tuuli Thea. Zane and Danica's new peace is interrupted by the arrival of one of the original falcons, Syfka, who has come to flush out a falcon runaway and bring him back home. As the couple learn they are with child they begin to feel the pressure of each side of the court on the best way to raise their future heir. The title refers to a dancer's charm nickname, which usually is pressed into a coin and worn about a dancer's neck for safe-passage.
